Read moreOn October 28th, we welcomed Fiona Evans - US Consul General in Dusseldorf - and Ken Walsh - Commercial Consul and Head of the US Commerce Department in Dusseldorf - as guests in our company. This meeting was organized by Christoph Rüther, the mayor of the city of Bad Wünnenberg.
When Fiona Evans was on the trail of her origins last spring - her family comes from the borough Bleiwäsche - it came to a meeting between her and Christoph Rüther.
The conversation has emerged, that the Mrs. Evans is also responsible for the economic relations between Germany and the USA. With the aim of strengthening trade relations between local companies and the US and for making important contacts, the mayor has arranged a meeting to introduce Fiona Evans and Ken Walsh to the economy of Bad Wünnenberg.
The visit starts with a tour of the premises and the work of WÄCHTER Packautomatik. Then the two American guests, other entrepreneurs from the area and the hosts came together to discuss the economic situation. At the company presentation Stefan Wächter focused especially on the trade relationship with the USA. This is currently associated with concerns about the still unclear customs policy of the United States, which is already reflected in the declining order situation. A particular focus of the exchange was therefore on the opportunities that local companies can use to promote their business with the US. Against this background, contacts that welcome and advise on further trade relations between the EU and the US are important.
We are pleased that Fiona Evans and Ken Walsh have accepted the invitation and have shown great interest in the companies in our region. We would like to especially thank for the interesting conversations, in which different views could be exchanged, who have come across understanding.
